Sojourn is a Biblical Church
Many churches claim to be a Biblical church. But different churches mean very different things by that. At Sojourn, we believe it’s important to be clear. When we say we are a Biblical church, we mean the following:
1. Scripture Is the Word of God
We believe the Bible does not merely contain the Word of God—it is the Word of God. Where Scripture speaks, God speaks.
2. Scripture Is Inerrant
Because God is perfectly truthful and cannot err, His Word does not err either. The Scriptures are true and trustworthy in all they affirm.
3. Scripture Is Necessary
While creation reveals things about God, we cannot truly know who God is, who we are, or the way of salvation apart from His Word. The Bible is God’s gracious revelation to us.
4. Scripture Is Our Final Authority
Everyone gives authority to something—culture, experience, reason, tradition, or personal experience. For us, Scripture has the final word. When God’s Word confronts us, we do not reshape the Bible; we seek to be reshaped by it.
5. Scripture Is Sufficient
The Bible contains everything we need to know for salvation and for living a life pleasing to God. God's Word is enough—it does not need to be supplemented to meet today’s challenges.
6. Scripture Is Clear
Though some passages are difficult, the central message of Scripture—salvation through faith in Jesus Christ—is clear and understandable.
